Centre of Excellence for English, The Al Ain Colleges

The Centre of Excellence for English will demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to HCT students. It will be a well-resourced environment for the testing, modelling, and disseminating of knowledge about the art, craft and science of teaching English as a second language to speakers with Aranic as a first language.

History

At the Higher Colleges of Technology’s Policy Council meeting on May 15th 2007, Policy Council agreed to establish Centres of Excellence in individual colleges to consolidate focus and expand the resources of the college within an Academic Division or academic-related interest or expertise. The establishment of these centres is to:

• be a focus for the sharing of best practices and top class resources  within the HCT
• develop expertise, model best practices and promote innovation in areas such as curriculum design and delivery
• apply research, using current learning technology and share this with other HCT colleges

The Al Ain Colleges is the Higher Colleges of Technology’s Centre of Excellence for English.
